This art work gathers photographs of the fragments that survived the demolition of the center, photographs of the monuments that were built with these fragments, poems, paintings, and music. The objective of the installation is to re-think, recreate and heal the “memory of blood” created by Pinochet’s military dictatorship in Chile between 1973 and 1990.
In the exhibit the following questions are asked: what is the relationship between pain and beauty? what is the contradiction of terror and aesthetics?, and what is the role of artists in the creation of aesthetic objects that can be used in the healing of the body, the memory, and the history of a country that lived under the terror of a dictatorial regime? Why torture persist in history?
